*NEW ENERGIES TASK FORCE FOR PARISHES

As good stewards, we have an oligation to search out and
implement the best options for parish organization consistent
with these realities and the needs of our Catholic people.”
--Archbishop John J. Myers

My Dear Brothers in Christ,
I am very pleased with all the work and all the effort that has gone into the First Round of Parish Planning for the New Energies Project. We initiated the project three years ago when we asked the Task Force on Parishes to study the needs and realities of the Archdiocese and to make recommendations regarding the future of parish structures according to a specific timetable.
A year ago I spoke of the recommendations not being the final word, but rather the start of the conversation and response phase of the project. I asked the 48 immediately involved parishes to study the recommendations and respond by accepting them or designing new possibilities, which they thought more appropriate. I am pleased to say that our parishes did just that. Parishes have been both receptive to the recommendations and creative in suggesting new ideas.

*CATECHISTS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteer catechists serve as teachers. These catechists include parents of students and other interested parishioners. Anyone interested and willing to assist as a catechist or helper or as a classroom aide is welcome.

We offer catechist training and many opportunities for our teachers to

attend workshops or conferences through the Archdiocese of Newark. Classroom aide positions are available also to anyone who has reached Junior High School age or older. Substitute teachers are needed to fill in on an occasional basis.

The program is under the direction of the Director of Religious Education.

Classes are held on Sunday mornings.

If you are interested in becoming part of this ministry, please contact the Rectory
office at 201-798-7900

office to register the child for baptism 2 weeks (the latest) prior to the class. Baptism takes place in English every fourth Sunday of the Month. Spanish is every other month. (January, March, May, July, September,November)
