*NEW ENERGIES TASK FORCE FOR PARISHES

“As good stewards, we have an oligation to search out and
implement the best options for parish organization consistent
with these realities and the needs of our Catholic people.”
--Archbishop John J. Myers

My Dear Brothers in Christ,
I am very pleased with all the work and all the effort that has gone into the First Round of Parish Planning for the New Energies Project. We initiated the project three years ago when we asked the Task Force on Parishes to study the needs and realities of the Archdiocese and to make recommendations regarding the future of parish structures according to a specific timetable.
A year ago I spoke of the recommendations not being the final word, but rather the start of the conversation and response phase of the project. I asked the 48 immediately involved parishes to study the recommendations and respond by accepting them or designing new possibilities, which they thought more appropriate. I am pleased to say that our parishes did just that. Parishes have been both receptive to the recommendations and creative in suggesting new ideas.
